Moraira and Benissa
Moraira, a picturesque town full of contrasts.
Moraira is a small and charming coastal town in the province of Alicante that hosts three sandy beaches and several rocky coves ideal for rest, complete disconnection and activities in the sea. For those interested in water sports, the marina offers a diving, sailing and rowing club during the summer months.
Sometimes we forget that Moraira is the coastal town belonging to the municipality of Teulada. And the fact is, this area has grown so much in the last 20 years that it has become a town almost in its own right. Teulada sits on a hill above Moraira and is populated mostly by Spanish inhabitants. Moraira, however, is more popular with northern Europeans who find the picturesque setting of white villas, green pine trees and sea views quite a Mediterranean dream. Despite the influx of tourists and foreign residents, Moraira retains its traditions, customs and local festivals.
The town has its own castle, perched on the seashore overlooking the spectacular bay of Moraira, its views are unique! From many points in Moraira, on viewpoints, promenades, beaches or even from the most beautiful and traditional villas and fincas in the area, it is possible to reach stunning views of the Peñon de Ifach (Calpe), one of the most characteristic symbols of the Costa Blanca North that you cannot miss on your visit.
As well as the sunny walks along its romantic and cozy promenade which will also surprise you with a large number of cafeterias and bars, as well as a good selection of stores and restaurants that you will enjoy all year round, always accompanied by the splendid sunshine of the Costa Blanca. If you are more of a golf player, you will love to enjoy the Ifach Golf Club in Benissa. In addition, the road journey is simply beautiful.
Benissa inland and coast: a magical alliance between sea and mountain
The beautiful 4-km coastal route leads to the small and quiet beaches of Benissa: La Fustera, Cala Pinets and l 'Advocat combine rocks and sand, and Cala Baladrar is a pebble beach. On these beaches you can enjoy sea excursions and water sports such as diving and fishing. Many visitors enjoy the beautiful eco-trail, an easy walk along the coast with magical views.
The town of Benissa is set back from the coast. It retains a traditional Spanish feel, but is full of stores, restaurants and cafes. The cathedral of Benissa dominates the town and is a mark of the wealth and power that Benissa had in the 1920s. The streets are narrow, the houses white and cobbled… Everything leads to a medieval historical center of real charm.
For modern living, it has large supermarkets, DIY stores, a weekly marketand good access by car or bus to major cities such as Alicante or Valencia. The nearest golf course is the Club de Golf Ifach, from where there are spectacular views of the gigantic rock of the northern Costa Blanca.
